Cadw offers free entry to all Cadw sites for home educators during school hours in term time. Apply in writing, including names of home educating adults and number and age of child(ren), plus of evidence of home educating (could be a membership number). Applications can be made to Adrienne Goodenough, Cadw Lifelong Learning Manager at the above address or email address. Applicants will be sent a letter of authority valid for one year, renewable on request. To gain free entry, home educators need to present the letter to staff at CADW sites.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales works to conserve threatened plant species and it also carries out research into plant diversity. There are collections of plants from all over the world. Education programmes available.
Contact them direct for educational rates either as a self-led group or for an educational tour (which is recommended on your first visit) including 1 1/2 hour on agreed topic with a staff members, visit to audio-visual theatre with 360o cinema, free time to explore garden and access to restaurant/picnic and play areas. Contact the Education Department on 01558 667150 and ask for a teachers’ pack which also allows one adult free entry for a preview.
